Dr. Lakshmi J
Clinical Psychologist
In my professional capacity, I have offered training and supervision for mental health professionals. I have performed roles as consultant clinical psychologist and as Assistant Professor of Psychology in educational institutions. I have conducted multiple workshops for psychology students, teachers, counsellors and members of the community.
I decided to provide my own services as it aligns with my purpose and values in life. The rhythms for mind aims to share evidence-based knowledge about healthy parenting, healthy marital and family relationship, healthy friendships and knowledge that helps heal emotional wounds and promote psychological well-being.
I am a member of American Psychological Association (Member number: C2404994435). I am glad to share that I received Best Paper award for the paper titled “Parent Management Training in the Case of a Child with Conduct Disorder” in the scientific session on “Psychotherapy for Children” at the 40th National Annual Conference of Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists, held in February-March, 2014 in Tamil Nadu.
Psychotherapy facilitates a deeper awareness of the self, others and self in relationship with the other. This awareness in turn helps us to make healthy choices in life. I prefer psychotherapy integration in my work with clients and the aim of which is to integrate theory and technique/intervention from different types of evidence-based psychotherapy so that a client does not have to take a one-size-fits-all approach. I largely use emotion- focused, trauma-informed, attachment oriented and mindfulness-based approaches.
As a clinical psychologist and a human being, I believe in nurturing and protecting mental health. I invite you to The rhythms for mind with the hope that these rhythms offer you possibility for healing, more clarity in life and more life satisfaction.
